Many of the people I have interacted with over the course of my education view their jobs as necessary evils, as something thats getting in the way of them doing nothing. That’s what the mold is, right? A set of expectations of how each individual should act, derived from the actions of the general population. Well, I completely disagree with the attitude and the mold. I prefer when I have work to do, no matter what it is. I am happiest when I feel like I am providing someone with value, whether they are a customer, a employer, or a friend.
I felt this way in high school, and then lost it a small bit in college. This was partly due to the fact that I was adhering to the mold there, in which passion, energy, and visible effort were looked down upon in many circles. Looking back, I can see how it affected me, and how once I broke from that mold I have much more freedom to be visibly passionate, and to enjoy working in any capacity.
What I’ve learned from this experience is that there may be more molds holding me back that I am not actively looking to break out of. From now on, I will be dedicated to breaking out of any mindset or mold that is holding me back.
