–Steven Pressfield, The War of Art                                    Â
In this book, Steven Pressfield gives a name to the subtle force that keeps us from working towards our goals – resistance. The War of Art has three succinct parts — Identifying resistance, combating resistance, and knowing our allies against resistance. Over the course of the book, Pressfield draws a clear battle path towards a more productive self.
The War of Art is organized and outlined in a refreshingly clean and organized manner, which greatly assists the force of its ideas. Each section is composed of many small chapters, each representing a salient concept that advances the goal of the section. The book does not concern itself with flowery language or lengthy prose, but instead focuses on the clarity of each idea. This style of writing makes the book not only a quick read, but a very satisfying one as well.
After you read this book, you will find yourself noticing instances of resistance in your own life, and then pushing past them. It helped me get past the resistance preventing me from writing this review.
The War of Art is filled to the brim with helpful realizations that everyone should be exposed to. I recommend it to all.
