Today is the last post of my 30-day blogging challenge!
I am still going to keep blogging as much as I can, because I have really enjoyed writing consistently over the past 30 days. I feel as though my writing has grown significantly, especially since my very first blog post. Here are a few things that I feel like writing consistently has helped me work through.
Getting past writer’s block
I feel like I am more able to see the value of everyday events or conversations I have with friends and then turn those into blog post ideas if need be. Practicing this has helped me synthesize ideas faster, and has helped me be more open to different subjects and styles of writing.
Fear of Shipping
Pushing myself to submit something I had only been working on for part of a day was really helpful for getting past my fear of putting forward content that isn’t perfect. It’s never going to be perfect and submitted and imperfect is better than late.
Capability to Express Ideas
This reminds me of when I did dance for a semester. I had done it before for brief periods, but after having done it consistently for a long period of time, I started to be more agile and aware of my movements in other areas of my life as well. Similarly, I feel like writing my ideas for this 30 day period has increased my agility and awareness of my speech and capability to express my thoughts.
General Confidence
I feel like improving any skill and seeing the results of your work would help anyone with confidence, but I think writing is specifically effective at it. Somehow having a clearer understanding of how to express ideas in writing has helped me have more clarity in my thoughts, allowing more mindfulness and less anxiety.
As it was so clearly valuable for me to write every day, I want to try doing another skill for a thirty-day span. Maybe knife skills for cooking, practicing jumps for Ice-skating, or writing music. I’m not sure yet, but if I do embark on another challenge, there will be plenty of posts about it.
